In a message on social media page X, Pope Francis said that daily prayer and the Eucharist “make us pilgrims-missionaries of hope,”.
“Daily prayer and, above all, the Eucharist make us pilgrims-missionaries of hope, on the journey toward a life without end in God, toward the wedding banquet prepared by Him for all His children,” the Holy Father said in his message this Saturday, October 19.
The message concludes with the hashtag #YearofPrayer, launched in January of this year and intended to prepare for the Jubilee of 2025.
2025 is “a year dedicated to rediscovering the great value and absolute necessity of prayer in personal life, in the life of the Church and the world,” as he said on January 21 of this year when he announced it.
“The coming months will lead us to the opening of the Holy Door, with which we will begin the Jubilee (of 2025). I ask you to intensify your prayers to prepare ourselves to live well this event of grace and thus experience the strength of God’s hope,” Francis urged that day.
The motto of this Year of Prayer is taken from the Gospel passage in which the disciples ask Jesus: “Teach us to pray” (Lk 11:1).
