The Abducted Seminarians of Nigeria Released

The three seminarians who were abducted on October 11 from the Cristo Rey Major Seminary in the Diocese of Kafanchan, Nigeria were released. “Just 48 hours after their abduction, our beloved brothers were released by their kidnappers,” Fr. Emmanuel Uche Okolo, Chancellor of the diocese of Kafanchan, announced. The injured seminarians were treated and discharged after confirming that they were stable and healthy, he said.

All the priests will celebrate a thanksgiving Mass today for their release. They also pray for all those still in captivity and sought the intercedence of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Nigeria has suffered from great insecurity since 2009, when the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram began its attack, seeking to make Africa an Islamic state.
