Mend Your Heart and Soul in these Ways

The greatest obstacle to achieving our goals and living a fulfilling life is not the devil, but our own inner struggles. As Paul confessed in Romans 7:15-25, our own desires and weaknesses can lead us astray, despite our best intentions. However, God has given us the power to overcome these internal battles through spiritual disciplines that guard our hearts.

First, we must prioritize intimacy with God through daily prayer, as Jesus commanded in Luke 18:1. Prayer doesn’t change God, but it changes us, empowering us to submit to His plan.

Second, studying the Word of God diligently is crucial. Reading our Bible daily fills our hearts with wisdom, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. It helps us make better decisions, resist temptation, and trust in God’s loving care.

Third, activating the power of worship through music and praise can drive out despair, depression, and doubt. It fills our hearts with encouragement and inspiration, giving us strength to overcome life’s challenges.

Lastly, processing pain through journaling helps us empty our emotions onto paper, rather than onto others. It allows us to be real with God, trust in His strength, and find rest in His presence.

By mastering these fundamental spiritual disciplines, we can guard our hearts, maintain our witness, and walk in everything God has for us.
