Bishop Demetrio Fernandez, Bishop of Cordoba, Spain, recalled that the martyrs are the living testimony of Christian faith. He wrote this in his weekly letter about the upcoming beatification of 127 martyrs that will take place on October 16 in the diocese.
“85 years have passed since that supreme moment, in which each of our martyrs gave his life for Christ in a bloody death, produced by hatred against God and against the Catholic religion,” explained the Prelate. The supreme sacrifice with a greater love, which makes us forget the cruelty of the torture and therefore now they are presented in the midst of the Church as a living testimony of Christian life and as intercessors before God for our diocese of Cordoba, the bishop added. The martyrs will be beatified at the Cathedral of Cordoba. The ceremony will be presided over by Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.
