Peru celebrated the 375th anniversary of the only Eucharistic miracle in the Cathedral of Lima. The commemoration of the 375th anniversary of the appearance of the Child Jesus in a consecrated host, the only Eucharistic miracle of this type in Peru, was celebrated in the Cathedral Basilica of Lima on 26 May, Sunday.
The Mass was celebrated on the morning of May 26, Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, by the Archbishop of Lima, Mons. Carlos Castillo, who received the lay group “Eucharistic Miracle Peru 1649”, who gave the prelate a painting that portrays the prodigy, which was later venerated in the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament.
In his homily, the archbishop highlighted the importance of the community of faith, remembering that God is one, but he is also a community.
“God has created us for others (…) we are made for others. When the Lord tells us in the Gospel of John that in the beginning the Word existed and it was directed towards God, he tells us that we are created in the image and likeness of God, that we were created to love God and our brothers,” he said.
“Even in the miracle of Eten this is discovered because the Child appears in the heart of a Eucharistic host. And what is the host for? To eat and grow, and share. It is the bread that is shared (…) that creates community,” she added.
Before giving his final blessing, Bishop Castillo urged everyone to overcome individualism and continue the synodal path respecting cultural richness and diversity, all in a single unity like the Trinity, stating that “we have a place and no one is superfluous in that land.” because we are all indispensable.”
Magdalena de Ciudad Eten, in the Diocese of Chiclayo, northern Peru, the Divine Child appeared in a consecrated host during the Mass on the eve of the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, at approximately 5:00 in the afternoon.
