Grow up a Better Kid

Parenting is becoming a most difficult responsibility. Growing a child is an easy task. But growing up a better child is not so easy. It needs special frequent monitoring from the infancy stage of the children. Here are some special parenting tips to help you with a lifetime responsibility.

In the olden days, mothers used to take only girls with them to help them with the housework. Times have changed today. Women also go to work and do house chores. It is the right way for men to do housework too. Boys can be trained to do housework from an early age so that they can do the same in future.

You can train them to do small things by themselves, starting with putting away their toys. Let the children do things like cleaning the study table, stacking the books in the school bag etc. Children should be given more responsibilities as they get older. Let boys and girls get used to washing dishes, making their beds and cleaning their rooms.

Children should be helped to learn the value of money. Help the children to deposit pocket money in a box. This money can be used to meet the minor needs of the children. This will help inculcate the habit of earning in children. Children should grow up knowing the benefits of sharing, and charity.

Children should be taught that caring, love and friendship can be expressed through sharing. Tell them to show care to those around them and share it with the closest people when there are problems.

Teach them to treat elders with respect. Children should be taught that everyone deserves respect, including peers and younger people. Teach the child that it is respectful to avoid such things from talking to others with unnecessary anger, talking down, and making fun of them because of their colour, shape, and temperament. Remind your child that it is important to say thank you for a favour and to return the favour when you can.

Teach the child that honesty is the greatest value. Adults should never lie in front of children. Encourage your child to tell the truth no matter how difficult it may be. It is very important to teach children not to take other people’s things without their knowledge and that doing so is theft.

Life is not always about winning. Children should be helped to accept failures and learn from them to improve themselves. Make the child understand that it is okay to be upset or sad about setbacks and failures. Let the child learn to see failures as opportunities to improve next time.
