Nicaraguan dictatorship sentenced 11 Christian leaders imprisoned and fined them 880 million dollars. The imprisonment is for 12 and 15 years; already paid 880 million dollars. They were also prevented from having contact with their families and lawyers. All this after the success of his organization in bringing together thousands of people praying in public spaces, something that would have been seen as a threat by the Sandinista regime.
The sentence announced on 19 March, is for “false charges of money laundering,” according to a note from ADF International, an organization that defends religious freedom and has assumed the legal defence of the 11 leaders. In this process, he has already taken the case before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR).
ADF International has asked the IACHR to demand that Nicaragua guarantee the health, life and integrity of the 11 convicts while the process lasts.
The 11 sentenced, who must each pay 80 million dollars, are a married couple, an evangelist and eight pastors linked to the Puerta de la Montaña group (Mountain Gateway ), founded in Texas (United States) and which has been working in Nicaragua since 2015, with the permission of the Nicaraguan regime.
