The Vatican Press Office reported early this Monday morning in Rome that in Pope Francis’ state of health, “mild flu-like symptoms persist, without fever. However, out of an abundance of caution, this morning’s hearings are suspended.”
This is the second time in three days that pontifical audiences have been canceled after the same measure was taken last Saturday “due to a mild case of flu.”
On Sunday, Pope Francis did attend his weekly meeting with the faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square to pray the Angelus.
Various episodes related to the health of the 87-year-old Pontiff have forced Pope Francis to cancel some of his planned activities in recent months.
Thus, on January 12, he was forced to distribute the speech addressed to the participants of the Universities of Ecclesiastical Communicators Symposium.
He also did not participate as planned in the climate change conference held in Dubai on December 1, 2023. On 25 November, he also had to suspend the events planned on his agenda due to a mild flu.
