After a month and half, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake and a flooding hurricane compounded Haiti’s woes, Catholic aid agencies are still making various strategies to get people back on their feet. Many agencies provide clean water and rebuild homes and schools.
“Around 73,000 families of three provinces are affected by the earthquake, still we are in the season of hurricane, so we are providing tarps and shelter materials, ” said Michael Augustin, Catholic Relief Services. The country is transforming from the immediate post earthquake needs of food, water, psychological support and non-food items.
Many of the agencies are focusing on rehabilitating the damaged schools and public service centers. The local volunteers work selflessly to help Haiti to get back their life. They extend their hands in all their basic needs of life.
