A lot of parents are feeling overwhelmed during those particularly crazy seasons of life like school starting, multiple kids in multiple sports, and work ramping up in our busy season. There are many times you may feel exhausted. It is a reminder to take care of some face of life.

Multitasking

The busier you get, the more you try to get done at the same time. You might have experienced answering text messages while you are on the phone waiting in line at school pick-up. Do you know the after-effects? They don’t get done well … and usually, don’t get done at all.

You may not give a person on the other end of the phone the attention you should, and later you may not remember what was discussed or agreed upon during the phone call. Your text messages get half-written and worst of all, those precious few minutes of connection with your kids right after school fall by the wayside.

2. Keep Away your Phone

Phones are the major time-taking device in our life nowadays as it is an unavoidable thing. Even though we are not phone addicts, our minds often jump to glancing at our phones.

It is better to keep away our phones from our pockets while we are at home. Leave the phone on the counter or in the room. When you’re overwhelmed, it’s so easy to let your attention wander from the things that matter the most. Do yourself a favor and physically limit your distractions in order to pay complete attention to what is happening at this moment.

3. Self-Care

Our investment in our own health and well-being needs to ramp up with the same intensity. It’s simply impossible to pour yourself into anything else – your family, your work, or both — if you have nothing to give. So make sure you take care of yourself first by being active, eating well, and getting enough sleep. This is the most important thing you can do to survive the overwhelming seasons in life.
