A Nicaraguan priest who lives in exile in Chicago encouraged the faithful to pray the Rosary daily, for the freedom of Bishop Rolando Álvarez, unjustly sentenced to 26 years by the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and 4 months in jail.
“Dear brothers and sisters, Fr. Erick Díaz, exiled and exiled, greets you to ask you to join us in praying the Holy Rosary,” which is “a simple prayer” but “very powerful,” the priest said in a video posted on 11 May, on his Facebook page.
“In this Marian month, the month of the Blessed Virgin Mary, join us through our Father Erick Díaz page to continue praying the Holy Rosary, to ask for health, to ask for life and also to ask for the freedom of our bishop, Monsignor Rolando José Álvarez Lagos”, urged the priest.
On 10 February 2023, Bishop Álvarez was sentenced, after being unjustly accused of being a traitor to the country, for having criticized the dictatorship.
