These thoughts of a few Capuchin priests could be described as a little more of a new generation even in spirituality. This Easter Story can surprise you with their wonderful idea of Q R code in the Easter egg too! The priests of the Capuchin Provincial House, Kottayam, have made that possible by moving with the time at the same time without losing the spirituality of Easter. Fr. Abin Pothanamoozhi Capuchin, shares how the priests could get through such an amazing idea.
The idea of a QR Code on Easter Eggs came from the thought of doing something different with Easter Eggs. They did not want to greet the faithful with a simple word of saying ‘Happy Easter’ after the Holy Mass at the Capuchin Provincial House Chapel. Along with an Easter egg, they got something new to lead the people to Risen Lord. Father Abin Capuchin explains from where they got the idea of imprinting QR codes on the Easter eggs which contain an Easter message and a gift to those who came for the Easter services. “That’s when I remembered that the route map was set up with a QR code as part of my Ordination. Once the QR code was set on the invitation card of the ordination, people could easily come to the temple without going astray. So, I thought that why not try this idea with an Easter egg? Thus we prepared a special Easter egg with the QR code with an Easter Message of Provincial Fr. George Antony Asharisheril together with a gift.”
The QR code was set right outside the Easter egg. It was designed in such a way that the message and gift would be available to those who scan it on mobile. The aim was not just a ‘Happy Easter’ but also a good message of Easter to people. Thus a 30-second message from the Provincial along with a gift reached the community members through the QR code.
People received this variety of Easter eggs with great interest. The children were the first to see the QR code and asked what it was. They were told, “Scan it. We have a secret hidden in this.” With that, people got interested in and eager to collect Easter eggs. When the elders did not understand, they asked the children. They also liked the event. So ‘QR Code on Easter Egg’ has become a very new experience for everyone this Easter.
Those priests say that it was through social media that people came to know about this different Easter egg and many expressed their appreciation. This ‘new-gen’ idea originated out of a plan to bring the message of Easter to more people in a simple way. Anyhow, the event was a super hit. Catholicnews.in extends hearty congratulations to the priests who came forward to spread the Gospel of the Risen with this new-gen idea.
