Pope Francis had a meeting with a couple of parents whose daughter died last night, whom he consoled and prayed for the rest of the minor just before he returns from the Agostino Gemeli Poly Clinic on 1 April, Saturday.
“Leaving the Polyclinic, Pope Francis got out of the car and greeted the people present. He hugged a couple of parents who lost their daughter last night, stopping to pray with them, ”the Holy See Press Office reported.
During the moving encounter, the Pontiff hugs and comforts the mother. Likewise, he asks the parents for the name of her minor and proceeds to pray with them, to then give them the blessing, a gesture of closeness that was appreciated by both.
Prior to the meeting, Pope Francis shared a few words with the press and recalled his visit to the children.
Likewise, when one of the journalists asked him how he feels, the Pontiff joked that he was “still alive” and thanked the medical staff once again, highlighting the work of health professionals and dedicated to the sick.
After leaving the Gemelli Hospital this morning, Pope Francis went to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore to pray for a moment before the Marian icon in the Salus Populi Romani.
In a statement, the Holy See Press Office reported that the Pontiff stopped in front of the Marian image to “entrust in prayer the children he found yesterday in the Department of Pediatric Oncology and Children’s Neurosurgery of the Hospital, all the sick and those who suffer from illness and the loss of their loved ones”.
Yesterday, during his visit to this area of the polyclinic, the Holy Father baptized a baby a few weeks old.
