Yesterday, at the Agostino Gemeli Hospital, Pope Francis baptized a baby where he has been hospitalized.
In a video released by the Holy See Press Office, the Holy Father is seen giving the sacrament of Baptism to a baby who is in one of the hospital cribs. Next to her is a woman, who tells her that the little one will be called Miguel Ángel, on 31 March.
Then the Pontiff recommends that, when he goes to the parish to register the child, it is said that “the Pope baptized him.”
In its statement, the Press Office also reported that Pope Francis visited this afternoon “the children hospitalized in the Pediatric Oncology Department of the A. Gemelli Hospital, bringing them rosaries, chocolate eggs and copies of the book ‘Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea’”.
“During the visit, which lasted about half an hour, the Pope imparted the sacrament of Baptism to a baby named Miguel Ángel, a few weeks old.” Later, the Holy Father returned to the area where he is hospitalized.
The Vatican reported today that the health of the Pontiff continues to evolve favorably and that it is likely that he will be discharged tomorrow Saturday.
