Pope Francis asked the faithful to the Virgin Mary for Myanmar regarding the current conflict, “ends soon and opens a new time of forgiveness, love and peace.
The Holy Father once again expressed his closeness to the people of Myanmar and regretted that one of the oldest and most important churches in the country was recently burned down. The Pope was speaking at the end of the Sunday Angelus Marian prayer.
“My thoughts, with pain, go in particular to Myanmar, where the church of Our Lady of the Assumption was burned and destroyed, in the village of Chan Thar, one of the oldest and most important places of worship in the country,” said the Pope.
Along these lines, the Pontiff assured his closeness to “the defenseless civilian population, which in many cities is subjected to severe trials.”
“May God put an end to this conflict soon and open a new time of forgiveness, love and peace,” he said.
Finally, Pope Francis invited the thousands of faithful gathered in Saint Peter’s Square in the Vatican to pray together a Hail Mary to the Virgin for Myanmar.
