Pope Francis telephoned and expressed his closeness to a young Italian widower who has just lost his wife after giving birth to their twin sons.
The Holy Father wanted to express his closeness to Giacomo Cofano. The Pope assured his prayers to Cofano and the little children Edoardo Maria and Emilia Maria after the recent death of the young mother.
As reported by the local press, Viviana Delego, 41, died on December 22 after giving birth to two twins in a hospital in Brindisi, in southern Italy, due to “serious complications” of childbirth.
The priest recounted that Pope Francis first sent Giacomo Cofano a personal letter on December 25 and hours later, on Christmas afternoon, he called him by phone.
