Prayer can Save Nicaragua Says, Bishop

Bishop, Msgr. Rolando Álvarez pointed out that prayer “is the one that will save Nicaragua” and therefore called for a “crusade” for the next months. The prelate was conducting a pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of the Divine Child in the Diocese of Matagalpa.

“On behalf of all my brother priests of our blessed and beloved Diocese of Matagalpa, I want to summon each and every one of you to a crusade of prayer and adoration for our Church, our priests, and our beloved Nicaragua,” said the Prelate during the Closing Mass, at the end of the pilgrimage, on July 17.

As Monsignor Álvarez explained, the crusade will consist of fasting during the day on the first Friday of each month, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Likewise, he requested that in the next festivities of the Virgin Mary the Holy Rosary of the dawn be prayed, at 5:30 a.m., and the devotional practice of the thousand Hail Marys.

Among the main Marian celebrations that he mentioned is the Assumption of the Virgin, the Nativity of Mary, the feast of Our Lady of Mercy, the Virgin of the Miraculous Medal, and the Immaculate Conception.

The multitude of pilgrims began their journey in the early hours of the morning, after participating in the Holy Mass in the San Pedro Cathedral.
