Pope Francis will preside over the liturgical celebration of the beatification of John Paul I on September 4, 2022, in Saint Peter’s Square at 10:30 a.m. (local time).
The Petition for Beatification will be read by the Bishop of the Diocese of Belluno-Feltre, Mons. Renato Marangoni, as the exceptional seat of the Cause for the canonization of Venerable John Paul I, together with the Postulator of the Cause, Cardinal Beniamino Stella and the Vice-Postulator, Dr. Stefania Falaasca.
During the beatification, the Postulation will present Pope Francis with a reliquary containing a relic of the new Blessed.
