Cope up with the Gadget Addiction of Children

Addiction to mobile phones is a major issue of today’s generation. Due to the busyness of parents, they themselves give mobile phones often to their children as a toy at a young age. An uncontrollable use can lead to many mental and health hazards. Here are some ways to control mobile phone usage among kids.

1. Do not Provide Gadgets in the Morning

Giving mobile phones and other electronic gadgets to children in the morning can make their day boring. Morning is the time when humans are most energetic. It is also the perfect time to do the most important things of the day. Let the children use that time for reading and studying. If they start using phones at that time, they are likely to become addicted to them and use them for a long time.

2. Time-Bound Use of Gadgets 

Parents should allow children to use electronic gadgets to children for time-bound use. After or before the usage, no matter how much they insist, children should not be allowed to use phones, etc. The prolonged use will be the cause of addiction to the devices.

3. Encourage Children to Go Outside and Play

Children like to spend most of their free time and holidays in front of the television and mobile phones. That habit needs to be changed from them. Parents should let their children play and talk with other children during the holidays. Moreover, it would be appropriate to teach children arts like dancing and singing and sports like swimming and karate. Along with physical health, performing arts can help to ensure mental health.

4. Reading as a Routine 

The parents should take initiation to set a time for reading. Reading is food for the mind. Reading is very useful to calm the mind and make it positive. Similarly, parents should take care to inculcate interests like coloring and painting in their children. When this happens, children will naturally reduce their use of mobile phones and television for extended periods of time.
