3 Nuns Kidnapped from an Orphanage in Haiti

Three nuns have been kidnapped in Haiti. According to Vatican News, the news of the abduction was spread on Tuesday by Father Gilbert Peltrop, former parish priest of the Saint-GĂ©rard parish of Carrefour-Feuilles. According to the priest, armed men broke into the La Madeleine orphanage, where several nuns from the Congregation of Saint Joseph of Cluny live.

The orphanage is located in an area of Port-au-Prince controlled by the 400 Mawozo gang.

“until Wednesday, the kidnappers had not established any communication with the leaders of the religious community to demand a ransom,” reports the Vatican News.

On 23 February, six members of the Congregation of the Sacred Heart were also kidnapped in the Haitian capital, and have not yet been released.

Violence has worsened in Haiti in recent days after Prime Minister Ariel Henry traveled to Kenya to coordinate the sending of a multinational force to the Caribbean country.
