10 Killed in Burkina Faso Amidst Jihadist Uprising

At least 10 civilians were killed in Burkina Faso on Saturday in an attack suspected to have been made by jihadists.

“Unidentified armed individuals carried out an attack on the village of Namssiguian in Bam province,” a security source told AFP.

The terrorists stayed for a long time and they looted and destroyed everything. They have disconnected the telephone connections in order to stop the communication told a local resident.

While Burkina Faso was once seen as a harmonious nation of religious tolerance, a jihadist uprising has plagued the country as well as the rest of Africa’s Sahel region since 2015. Civilians are subject to grave acts of violence and human rights violations at the hands of extremist groups, who often target Christians, their leaders, and places of worship.
